Snowy Family Pictures

In early November I decided I'd like to try to get a nice-ish family picture for Christmas cards. Two weeks before Thanksgiving, Ben and Cat were out of town so I took the other kids to scout out locations around Tibble Fork Reservoir. Luke managed to leave the house without shoes, so I had Jack stay in the car with him while Eliza and I walked to different spots and take some pictures. She got pretty creative with her poses, and then insisted on taking my picture instead of me always taking pictures of her. Here are a few of my favorites:

The following week, my talented sister-in-law Lindsey agreed to do a mini session for us. We headed back to Tibble Fork and, though it was beautiful, the circumstances weren't as conducive to picture-taking - it was sunnier and much colder. Ben didn't like the idea of taking pictures in the cold, but Jack was borderline miserable. We hoped for the best and got a beautiful picture for our Christmas card, plus a few bonus shots. Here are some from our phones:

And here are Lindsey's:

I'm pretty sure Jack is making that face because he's cold.

Cold again, and Luke as well.

Here, they're just being silly.
(And I chose a bad time to blink.)

A few Senior-ish pics of Cat:

And the winner is.......

It was definitely one of those no pain, no gain experiences - colder than I would have liked, but I love the natural winter backdrop. We were only taking pictures for about 30 minutes, but you can definitely tell we were chilly by looking at our pink cheeks and noses and ears. (I brought hand warmers but they don't do much to warm faces.) I'm really glad we did it, but it will probably be a while before I'll be able to convince the males in the family to do it again...
