This week we happened to open the lid to the nesting boxes and see Dixie sitting in the box where we've found all the eggs. The next time we checked, there was an egg in the shavings. Pretty cool.
But Dixie had other adventures too. Accounts vary, but whether intentionally or not, Dixie was perched on the 6' high fence that borders our back yard and our neighbor's back yard and ended up on the other side of the fence, in our neighbor's back yard. Thank goodness Jack had the presence of mind to climb the fence and retrieve Dixie. And thank goodness this is the neighbor who pretty much despises us.
Eliza started spending more time training Hei Hei to jump for raspberries. I'd say she's gotten pretty good.
The chickens like berries so much that the kids have played 500 with them using berries instead of a football. Apparently Dixie was the champion in that game.
