Cat wanted to make some extra money over the summer, so after DC and some of the other things she had going on in June, she started applying for jobs. She ended up at Five Guys in American Fork. And though it was a perfect way for her to earn cash, she hated it from the beginning. Mostly because her manager and coworkers were terrible to work with. She was such a uniquely hardworking employee that she was offered the option to train as a manger during her first week. Alas, Cat knew even then that she did not want to commit to more time than necessary at this job. She was in it for the money, and the education in What Not To Do At Work (And In Life) was the fringe benefit. But we had fun visiting her at lunch one day anyway, and embarrassing her, as we have been known to do once or twice in the past. She was a good sport.
She Works Hard for the Money
Cat was still working her regular Saturday shift hostessing at the Chinese buffet, too, and we had fun visiting her there at dinnertime one night. She came and sat with us when her shift ended, which was awesome. And we took pictures.
Cat quit her job at Five Guys around the time school started. She gave her uniform items to Jack, who was thrilled, since he has an intense love of hamburgers. Unfortunately for Cat, he wears the t-shirts and hat often, which she says gives her PTSD.
She switched her second job to waiting tables at a nearby Thai restaurant, which she loved right away. It's a much better fit, with a great boss and coworkers she gets along with very well, flexible scheduling, and the bonus of a free entree every shift. Later in the fall she decided to stop working at the Chinese buffet (after more than a year!) and just work at the Thai restaurant.
