Dr. Seuss's Birthday with Cat in the Hat yogurt & strawberry parfaits for breakfast, festive bagged lunches (pretty much exactly like last year), a dinner of green eggs and ham with Trufula trees (broccoli), and a dessert of One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Jello.
Fat Tuesday (except a few days late) with a dinner of cajun chicken pasta
and a delicious King Cake Luke helped me prepare:

Pi Day with Eliza and her friend making small pies in the afternoon, since they didn't have school.
Confession: the two pies Eliza made never got eaten. We had our official Pi Day dinner of chicken pot pie a day early since Ben was traveling. On 3/14 we had pizza pie, which nobody was sad about.
St. Patrick's Day with matching festive socks, a scavenger hunt for a pot-o-gold (yellow Jello), and green waffles for dinner. Eliza and Luke helped me decorate rainbow cupcakes after school.
April Fool's Day and I resurrected a joke from a few years ago, which pretty much everyone fell for. Don't worry, they still got donuts. I was really glad it was successful but it was kind of a headache trying to get the donuts the night before on my way home from choir rehearsal. Eliza and Luke helped me make shepherd's pie cupcakes and fake sushi for dinner and dessert, and Luke insisted that everyone use non-utensils for eating. I'll tell you that it's not easy to eat anything with two metal straws.
(Eliza loves to play with all gummy-type candies - I think this used to be a gummy worm) |
Note: We did not observe Star Wars Day or Cindo de Mayo, since Ben and I were out of town for those particular Minor Holidays. Oh well.
