Early in March, Jack had a day off of school. It was the ACT day for Juniors, so they were the only ones allowed on campus. I convinced him to go on a short hike with me, to Battle Creek Falls, a short hike that's nearby which we've hiked together a few times before. I think it's more beautiful and impressive in winter than it is any other time of year, and Jack had a great time trying to hike up the small mountain of ice at the base of the waterfall.
Two days later, Eliza and Luke had a random extra-long weekend, and since I feel better about life if I get the kids out of the house on days like that, we went to Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point. Unfortunately, I didn't choose a very good day - it was very cold and windy - but we still had fun, even if we didn't stay very long.
