One of the things I knew I needed to do before my ACL surgery was to take Luke's pre-baptism pictures. I've done this with all of the other kids and used the photos as announcements, and printed a few to be on display at the baptism. Each of the children chose the temple for his/her photo shoot: Cat chose Provo, Jack chose Salt Lake City, and Eliza chose Mt. Timpanogos. Luke's first request was to go to SLC but I reminded him that the temple is covered in scaffolding because of the construction, so then we looked at pictures of other temples within 45 minutes so that he could make an informed decision. We were on the Google Home Hub and it cracked me up that when we looked at the Draper Temple and a review popped up, Luke replied, "Ooh! Five stars!"
Luke chose Jordan River for his pictures, and I felt like everyone needed to get out of the house that Sunday afternoon so we all loaded up in the van, hoping we would all go on a walk on the Jordan River Parkway for a bit when we were finished with pictures. But we arrived there and saw that the fenced temple grounds were so large that we wouldn't be able to get decent pictures of Luke with the temple. So we headed to Luke's next choice, Draper. It was chilly that day, especially up on the mountain, but Luke was a good sport and we got some great pictures.
This is the shot Luke decided to use for his announcements. One little detail that I like about this one is that you can just see Luke's new Primary temple ring on his right hand. |
Luke is looking forward to his baptism in a couple of weeks, but adamant that he won't be completely ready to be baptized until he's finished memorizing the Articles of Faith. He's close, and I am confident he'll make it.
