Eliza Lately

A few fun things about Eliza...

Eliza likes to do a 10-minute workout before getting ready for school most mornings.  It includes push-ups, planks, and various ab exercises.

She also takes some time to read The Book of Mormon in the mornings.  It made me smile to find her like this at 6:33am the other day:

When I asked what she'd like to be when she grows up she said she'd either like to be a dolphin trainer or a veterinarian.

Eliza got a kids' FitBit for Christmas and she loves it.  She enjoys noting the amount of exercise the device registers each day, and a couple of times I've found her shaking the FitBit while lying in bed at night so that it can get to a certain number of steps for the day.

On Valentine's Day a member of our Primary Presidency brought over information about an Articles of Faith challenge for all the kids in Primary.  Older kids who memorize all 13 and younger kids who memorize the first 7 Articles of Faith will be invited to an ice cream party at a later time.  Eliza had me record a video of her singing all 13 right away.

Eliza's room!  This is two pictures squished together to try to provide the full view from her door.

Super anxious to try Dad's Meatballs a la Fabio

Fun with Jack's bendy-person-magnets for his board.

Fruit Roll-Up Tongue Tattoo of Grogu

Eliza's class read Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt
then each kid made his/her own quilt block.

Eliza worked hard to stay on top of the big 5th grade project: the state report!  She was given her first choice, New York.  She wrote a great report - and got a perfect 210 out of 210.  She was excited about her presentation board, and had plenty of apple-flavored Hi Chews to give away (since New York is The Big Apple - get it?) on the day of her presentation.

Even better than a good grade was this sweet email I got from Eliza's teacher after her NY presentation: Eliza is always so kind!  I noticed she was especially kind today during her presentation.  I'm always impressed with her natural ability to be inclusive.  What a great quality!

Eliza is officially learning her first concerto! She started working on it in February and has just learned the whole thing, so now she can begin memorizing it.

When I asked her what her favorite books are, she said, Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner, and False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen.  She was so excited about the last two books, which she's just read recently, that she wanted to discuss them with her longtime friend Phoebe, who lives on the East Coast.  ow they've started a weekly video chat to discuss books and life and play games.
